ICNL President Message

President's Message

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Oct 26, 2012 - Assalam Alaikom wa Rahmatu Allah wa barakatu,

I want to start my message by wishing each and every one of you a very happy and blessed Eid Al Adha, may Allah reward all of us by being on Arafat next year insha'Allah.

As you are aware; our community has been through many changes over the past year or so, we had several families move away for one reason or another, but Allah SWT rewarded us by the influx of new wonderful families that have already made an impact on this community.

As the term of the sitting board come closer to the end; I want to emphasize that we still have many goals to achieve, none of which is more important than improving the cohesiveness of our community and encouraging each member to take an active role in the decision making process, to this end; the board has early on established means of communication with the membership through the "complaints and suggestions" box located at the entrance of the Masjid, (which, I am sorry to say, has not been used efficiently yet) or through our email/website contact information or coming to board meetings, it is my hope that you all will take advantage of these instruments during the last period of this board, we would love to hear from all of you and I am certain that there may be some pitfalls that you may not be happy with but please don't keep them to yourself. We would like to work together to resolve any issue you may see at our Islamic Center.

Another major goal of this board is to expand the mezzanine level in the prayer hall in the Masjid and make it into the sisters' prayer section, we ask Allah to help us finish this project before the end of this board's term.

I want to remind all of you of an important event taking place in our community on Saturday evening, Nov 3rd, which is the tree of life annual conference, this event starts with a concert featuring the internationally renounced composer and political activist Malek Jandali of Syria, following the concert there will be a dinner co-sponsored by ICNL and CAIR-CT, funds will be raised during the event to benefit humanitarian aid for Syria. On Sunday there will be multiple excellent presentations focusing on the Arab Israeli conflict in the Middle East.

Finally, I want to remind all of you that the political season is upon us, please make sure that you take part in the upcoming elections and that you encourage your families to do the same, it is only through this process that Muslims can find their voice and reach the influencing power they deserve in this country.
